Water Department
The Town of Grand Island Water Department was established in 1938 and
is proud to serve 18,500 residents of Grand Island. The Town of Grand
Island operates it's own water treatment plant and Water Department
is responsible for delivering 857,000,000 gallons of high quality water
annually. Water is delivered through 125 miles of pipeline, which is
maintained by the Water Department. The Water Department does new service
taps as well. There are 6,577 service connections currently, which are
read by the Water Department spring and fall each year. The Town of
Grand Island Water Department meets or exceeds all current regulations
of the Environmental Protection Agency, New York State Health Department,
and Erie County Health Department.
