Reality Café, a teen center for Middle School aged students, is a program of the Parks & Recreation Department. Located on the Nike Base Park facility at 3278 Whitehaven Road, the Café is open to students on Tuesday and Thursdays, 6 – 8 PM and Fridays, 6 – 9 PM. Dates and times change slightly during the year and/or seasons; call 773-9680 for the most updated schedule. Evening phone line: 773-9685 - available at times Reality Café is open.
On their first visit, each student is required to bring a photo ID and complete a youth contract; rules of use and behavior while attending the Café activities. Parents are encouraged to walk through the facility as well. All youths are required to sign in and out each night. Each student may bring a “guest” provided that guest also has proper photo ID.
Staff is on hand to provide supervision, support and assistance to the teens. Adult volunteers are always welcome to chaperone. All movies, DVDs and CDs are preapproved by the staff. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase. There are table games, crafts, movies, a pool table, sports, and several TV’s for X-box and Kinect games ! It’s a great place to hang out with old friends and to meet new friends your age. Monthly day-to-day activities are posted. We also host contests, table games, parties and special events.
