This free teen center for Grand Island residents is located on the
grounds of the Nike Base, 3278 Whitehaven Rd. It is based on a coffee house
theme and is open to 6th and 7th
graders Tuesdays 6 – 8 p.m., and to 8th – 12th graders Thursdays 6 – 8 p.m.,
and Fridays & Saturdays 7 – 10 p.m. This is a drug- and alcohol-free
environment with a zero tolerance policy. Activities include billiards, board
games, music, video games, and skate ramps (during Café hours only).
Assortments of snacks are available for a nominal price.
Upon first visit, all students are required to present photo ID
(i.e. student ID, driver’s permit, driver’s license). Each student may bring
a guest provided that guest also has photo ID, completes a guest contract, and
arrives and leaves with the Grand Island resident.
Experience staff is available to provide support and assistance to
the teens. Adult volunteers are always welcome to chaperone. Convenient two-hour
shifts are available.
