Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY at 8:00p.m. on the 21st
of July, 2008.

Resolution
in Support of Division of Criminal Justice Services Grant Application
A
motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to
adopt the following resolution:
WHEREAS, the Town of Grand Island has seen an increase in the past
several years in UCR Part 1 offense rates, such as burglary and larceny, and
an increase in drug and alcohol abuse among young residents; and
WHEREAS,
in response to these increased crime rates, the Town, in
collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the Grand Island Central School
District, and other community groups, is working toward reducing drug and
alcohol use in order to directly reduce the increased rates of related crimes;
now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that,
in pursuit of this goal, the Town will prepare a grant application to the NYS
Division of Criminal Justice Services under the Operation IMPACT Tools
initiative to obtain funding to support these crime prevention efforts; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
that the Town Board of the Town of Grand Island acknowledges its
support of this application and hereby authorizes the Supervisor to sign and
submit the application to the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

to Re-bid Police Car
The
Town can save almost $4,000 in the base price ($21,000) over the NYS bid price
($25,000) by buying locally. As
least one dealer has a car, in stock, which meets the state specs.

authorize the Supervisor to re-bid for a police car.

Support of Court Assistance Program Grant

motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Cooke to
authorize the Grand Island Town Courts application for the 2008 NYS Unified
Court System Court Assistance Program Grant, up to the maximum amount
