A regular meeting of the Town Board of Grand Island, New York was held at the Town Hall, 2255 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY at 8:00 PM on the 20th of March 2006.

A public hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. for purpose of hearing anyone who wanted to make comments in favor of or in opposition of the proposed Local Law Intro

No. 2/2006 - Rezoning SW Corner of East River Road & Whitehaven Road.

A motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to adopt Local Law Intro No. 2/2006 as Local Law No. 2/2006 amending the Town Zoning Map by rezoning the land at the southwest corner of East River Road and Whitehaven Road, so that the B-1 zone is extended easterly and that a portion of the property currently zoned B-1 be rezoned to R-2.

Local Law Intro No. 3/2006 – Amendment to Zoning Code

A public hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. for purpose of hearing anyone who wanted to make comments in favor of or in opposition of the proposed Local Law Intro No. 3/2006 - Amendment to Zoning Code.   Supervisor McMahon noted that it is the intention of the Town Board to remove a section of the law regarding commercial vehicles from the proposed local law before moving forward.  He welcomed the public to address the Town Board with their concerns regarding that section.

CSEA Memorandum of Agreement

A motion was made by Councilman Roesch, seconded by Councilwoman Argy to authorize the Supervisor to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with CSEA to include two titles, Assistant Municipal Engineer and Assistant to the Assessor, and to exclude one title, Payroll Clerk, in the collective bargaining unit.

Commercial Traffic on South State Parkway

A motion was made by Councilman Crawford, seconded by Councilman Roesch to authorize the Supervisor to send a letter to officials at NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation and the NYSDOT, to express the Town of Grand Island’s support of an expedited review and approval for lifting the commercial vehicle restrictions on the South State Parkway.

Appointment of Deputy Highway Superintendent

Highway Superintendent Raymond Dlugokinski informed the Town Board he has appointed James Tomkins as Deputy Highway Superintendent effective March 31, 2006 12:00am for the remainder of the year 2006 at Grade 10 Step B.
