board reviews citizen concerns, complaints and suggestions regarding cable television
on Grand Island. They also survey residents and negotiate a contract for cable
service. A contract with Time Warner Cable is currently under negotiation. Ten members are
appointed to seven year terms.

| This council is charged with helping Grand Island prepare for and respond to emergencies by bringing together local leaders, citizen volunteers, and a network of first responders, including fire, police, and emergency medical personnel. Their goal is to have all Grand Islanders participate in making our town safer, stronger, and better prepared. |

| Improving
and preserving the environmental quality of Grand Island is the goal of this commission.
Among its many duties is to advise the Town Board on matters concerning environmental
conservation and to coordinate the efforts of private groups, institutions and
individuals within the town regarding conservation issues. |

It is charged with helping existing business survive and prosper, identifying

board will prepare the Historic Preservation Ordinance for adoption into law
by the Town Board and will identify historical landmarks and sites for recognition
and preservation. They will preserve and promote the natural beauty, rich heritage, and history of Grand Island and its people.
At-large members serve 4-year terms;Two Historical Society representatives serve 2-year terms, and the Town Historian serves a 1-year term. |

Grand Island Memorial Library was founded in 1945 as a tribute to those who served
their country in times of conflict. It is now chartered as a town public library
and administered by five trustees. The library is located in Veterans Park on
Bedell Road. Five trustees are appointed to
five year terms. |

| The Long Range Planning Committee is comprised of representatives of the Town Board, town advisory boards, the Chamber of Commerce, and the community at large. The committee is charged with revising and updating the town’s Comprehensive Master Plan. Most recently, the LRPC created Design and Performance Standards for the town’s business district, and these standards were approved by the Town Board in June of 2007. |

Planning Board's mission is threefold: To recommend
to the Town Board any laws, regulations or rules that relate to the town planning
and development, to report to the town board on all matters referred to it including
sub-division, special use and zoning changes and to make such investigation, maps,
reports and recommendations in connection with the planning and development of
the town as it deems desirable.

This board makes recommendations regarding highway orientation, intersections, traffic controls and street lighting. It also concerns itself with the safety of pedestrians and pays particular attention to vehicle and pedestrian traffic around public buildings.

This group is dedicated to the health, and comprehensive development of Grand Island youth through collaborative action. They hope to improve coordination, cooperation, and engagement among the community youth-related organizations and town government.
The group is comprised of both adults and youth from the community. Student representatives will be appointed after the first marking period of the 2007-2008 school year, upon recommendation of the high school principal.

| This board hears and decides appeals from and reviews any order, requirement, decision, interpretation, or determination made by the administrative official charged with the enforcement of any zoning ordinance or law. Persons aggrieved by a Zoning Board of Appeals decision may apply to the Supreme Court for review via a proceeding under Article 78 of the Civil Practice Law.
Five members are appointed to five-year terms.
